A Note

I never know what to say in situations like this. But I happened to see an email from a very kind and concerned friend (I've read almost no email at all recently, since I've been able to do virtually nothing other than feed the cats). I wrote him the following by way of response, and then I thought I'd simply post that message for those of you who may also be concerned (and may even have written, for all I know).

So here it is:

*****

Once again, you're wonderfully kind. I'm sorry to say I'm in terrible shape. Wondering many, many times if I should finally call 911 again...haven't so far, but I've come close on a number of occasions. All made much worse by the awful LA heat, which went on for something like six to seven weeks. It was capped by two days last week over a hundred degrees...all of which makes all my physical problems far worse. The heat finally seems to be letting up, although it will still be pretty warm for the next few days (high eighties, so not like the previous weeks).

I suppose I should post something, if only to let people know I'm not dead...but I never know what to say, if that's *all* I have to say, which it is at the moment..."Hi, not dead. Bye." Doesn't seem like a post to me...anyway, I've never been able to get myself to do just that, with nothing more. But maybe I should...

Many thanks for the inquiry. I'm hoping, once the heat is finally gone (maybe next week?), I'll begin to feel at least marginally better...

A. (The cats haven't been terribly happy either, although they're very skillful at conserving energy and finding the coolest places in the hot hot hot apartment, none of which has been exactly cool...)

I'm awfully sorry I haven't been able to write anything, but I'm hoping that perhaps that will be possible at some point next week. I'll just have to wait and see.

Hope to be back in the not too distant future.
